Progress has been slow in the implementation of the CT5 contract package comprising the decorative and finishing elements of the station which was carried out by the Hanoi Construction Corporation (Hancorp).
Over 77 percent of the station’s decoration stage, worth nearly VND800 billion ($34 million), has been completed and is expected to be finished in December.
However, as of July 25, the contractor has still not implemented the three-shift work as promised under the guidance of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
In addition, the foreign contractor threatened to terminate Lot 3 of the underground works due to the delay in the delivery of site permits. Contract Batch #3 was suspended for one year and fined $81 million due to slow disbursement and delay in handing over site clearance.
The joint venture of the Asian Development Bank (AfDB), the French Development Agency (AFD) and the French Directorate General of the Treasury has sent a letter to the Prime Minister to propose the launch of problem-solving solutions for the project of Nhon Metro – Hanoi Railway Station, including the capacity assessment of Hancorp which does not have the capacity to take on the project and has not made an effort to complete the executed contract.
