Job: Field coordinator assistant at Solidarités International

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Goal / Goal

  • The Assistant Field Coordinator assists the Field Coordinator in his representation, the coordination of the program, the preparation of the strategy and the programming of Solidarités International in his area of ​​intervention, the coordination with the other humanitarian actors, the team management and security and humanitarian monitoring.
  • These tasks imply strict confidentiality on the part of the Deputy Field Coordinator. It is strictly forbidden for the assistant field coordinator to divulge information concerning Solidarités International and its activities without the prior authorization of the field coordinator.
  • In addition, the Assistant Field Coordinator participates in the specification of the security measures to be undertaken at the base level in collaboration with the Field Coordinator, as well as their post-validation circulation List of Main Tasks:

List of main tasks

  • Gather information within the Field Coordinator’s area of ​​responsibility by attending security briefings with – or instead of – the Field Coordinator
  • Perform security checks for customs clearance of field team departures
  • Analyze the information and inform the field coordinator
  • Make the weekly security pack and send it to the field coordinator
  • Establish informal links and a network of contacts allowing the collection and verification of various information
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of security contacts in the area
  • Coordinate the weekly safety briefing
  • Animate the contextual and security briefing of new expatriates, in conjunction with the Field Coordinator


  • Under the delegation of the Field Coordinator, represent Solidarités International during humanitarian and security coordination meetings
  • Ensure that the message of Solidarités International is conveyed during meetings in accordance with its mandate and programs
  • Regularly visit Solidarités International intervention sites

Humanitarian follow-up:

  • Communicate between local and/or international NGOs according to the partitioning of contacts decided with the Field Coordinator
  • Under delegation of the Field Coordinator, attend meetings under his direct responsibility
  • Participate in the development of Solidarités International’s intervention strategy in the area (in particular via the annual programming) and propose program orientations in liaison with the Field Coordinator and the other basic services. To this end, the Assistant Field Coordinator is responsible, under the supervision of the Field Coordinator, for humanitarian monitoring in his area of ​​intervention in order to anticipate as soon as possible the relevant needs to be addressed within the framework of Solidarités International’s mandate.
  • Monitor the activities of the programs implemented in its area of ​​intervention by comparing evaluation, intervention and monitoring reports


  • Take minutes for the Field Coordinator for each meeting he/she attends
  • Write the weekly situation report for the context/security section
  • Compile the weekly situation report and send it every Monday afternoon to the field coordinator
  • In the absence of the Field Coordinator, coordinate the weekly base meeting
  • Take minutes of basic meetings
  • Introduce the security context at the start of all weekly baseline meetings


  • Bachelor’s degree in law / public administration or similar education
  • 2 to 3 years of experience as an assistant field coordinator or similar role in international NGOs;
  • Previous experience with SI Nigeria will be highly preferred
  • A good listener, a good communicator, an ability to set priorities and work with little supervision, a team spirit, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Project-related skills: good knowledge of the project cycle, project implementation, project monitoring
  • Previous experience with SI Nigeria will be highly preferred
