Clinical Fellow (Senior) ST3+ in General Paediatrics at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust


Applications are invited for two ST3+ (Senior) Clinical Fellow positions in General Paediatrics at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) from 07 September 2022 to 05 September 2023.

Main duties of the position

You will work under the supervision of general pediatric consultants. Day work will include the care of inpatients in general pediatrics and the assessment and examination of medical pediatric patients in the pediatric emergency department.

Outside opening hours, you participate in pediatric on-call duty. You will work alongside a second registrar and a junior intern (ST1-3). Duties will include the assessment and management of children in the pediatric emergency department and the examination and management of all pediatric patients on the wards, including sub-specialty patients.

To be considered, candidates must have a current APLS provider certificate (or equivalent) and at least 24 months of clinical experience in acute and general pediatrics.

Full registration and license to practice with the General Medical Council at the time of application is required.

The candidate should have demonstrable listening, reading, writing and speaking skills in English that enable effective communication on medical topics with patients and colleagues as outlined in GMC Good Medical Practices (2013). Non-UK applicants must pass the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC license to practice.

There may be the opportunity to gain experience in a pediatric subspecialty.

You will be assigned an educational supervisor and you will be encouraged to undertake workplace assessments. Many of our clinical fellows are successful in obtaining pediatric training numbers.
